Winter Ball Raises Funds, Awareness for Fight Against HIV/AIDS

On Friday, December 2nd, over 300 guests filled the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury for the LGBT Network’s annual Winter Ball fundraiser event.  This year’s Winter Ball, which featured a special performance by hit recording artist Reina, raised over $89,000 to support the LGBT Networks HIV/AIDS prevention and outreach services.

“HIV Infections are unfortunately still on the rise on Long Island, despite the many advances in treatment and prevention made in the last few years,” said LGBT Network CEO David Kilmnick.  “Through increased testing, early intervention, and improved access to care, we can functionally end the epidemic of new HIV infections on Long Island.”

The LGBT Network offers free, quick and confidential HIV/STI testing at its community centers and in the community with its mobile testing unit.  Funds raised at this year’s Winter Ball will provide for hundreds of free HIV/STI tests so that people can know their status and get connected to care.
