2016 Coming Out Campaign Largest Ever

LIGALY and The LGBT Network’s 2016 National Coming Out Day Campaign was the largest ever in its 14 year history!  More than 100 schools and over 100,000 students, teachers, parents and community leaders participated and took a stand against bullying and came out for safer schools.

“We had a 20% increase in participation in NCOD this year,” said LGBT Network CEO David Kilmnick. “But this is more than just numbers,” Kilmnick adds. “This is about impact and creating safe spaces for LGBT youth, as well as for youth with LGBT families.  This campaign gives the chance for people to visibly self-identify and come out as an ally, and therefore, contribute to creating support while taking a stand against the bullying of LGBT youth.”

The 2016 National Coming Out Day Awareness Campaign was made possible by generous contributions to the Back to School campaign, which raised over $30,000 this year in support of safer schools.
